Courtyard by Marriott Colombo heralded the festive season with a joyful Christmas cake mixing ceremony at the hotel lobby on Thursday (22), bringing together guests and the hotel’s team to celebrate the commencement of Christmas preparations.

Featuring live music and exuberant cake mixing carried out by a whole lot of happy chefs and delighted guests, the highly-anticipated traditional event was filled with joy, togetherness, and the spirit of the season.

The heartwarming event was held with Courtyard by Marriott Colombo General Manager Suranga Peelikumbura at the helm. Marking his first Christmas at the property, he promised an exciting line up of events and experiences during this festive season.

“I am delighted to celebrate my first year-end festive season at Courtyard by Marriott Colombo, and my team and I are gearing up to make it truly special. We look forward to welcoming our guests to celebrate the season with us and creating memorable experiences filled with festive cheer, warmth, and togetherness,” he said, addressing those gathered.

While the hotel’s culinary team had prepared an assortment of ingredients for the traditional mixing ritual in advance and creatively arranged most of it in a massive wooden vat, the actual mixing began when the chefs marched in, decked in Christmas aprons and hats, carrying tubs filled with more ingredients, and armed with wooden spoons.

It was certainly a joy-filled moment for Executive Chef Isuru Samarasinghe and Marketing and Communications Manager Jessica Silva, who then invited everyone to get their Santa hats on and participate in the mixing.

Meanwhile, Courtyard by Marriott staff wove through the gathering serving delicious canapes, lovely Christmas cocktails, and mulled wine, impressing guests with their culinary creativity and warm hospitality, as guests mingled and enjoyed the lovely evening.

Having set the tone with this ceremony, the hotel is looking forward to welcoming guests to share in the joy of the season via a host of exciting Christmas experiences, so be prepared for Santa, carols, culinary delights, and more!
