Namal calls out NPP’s hypocrisy

While commending President Anura Kumara Dissanayake for completing successful visits to India and China, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa expressed irony over the President’s decision to sign deals with Indian and Chinese companies that the National People’s Power (NPP) had previously criticised as “corrupt” during their time in the Opposition.

“During the previous governments when these Chinese and Indian companies showed interest in investing in Sri Lanka, it was the NPP who stood against it, terming these companies as controversial, corrupt etc. However, they now seem to claim credit for signing FDIs with them,” he said.

Rajapaksa said that President Dissanayake must come out and explain to the public why they opposed these FDIs back then and why they tarnished the image of these Indian and Chinese companies.

“The NPP government must also come out and explain what their foreign policy is, which is still rather vague with no clear direction in sight,” the MP added.
