Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe has made contradictory references to a relief package for the New Year proposed for recipients of state relief.
This was raised by opposition MP D.V. Chanaka in Parliament, also played a video of the minister’s remarks.
In that, Samarasinghe said previously that the relief package would contain two packs of ‘Samaposha.’
Later, he changed it to two packs of ‘Suposha’.
Criticism on social media questioned as to why ‘Suposha’ is purchased from a private producer, whereas it could easily be obtained from the state-run ‘Triposha’ company.
Also came under scrutiny was a top official of ‘Samaposha’ company being presently attached to the CWE.
