We can’t give govt jobs to all graduates, says Deputy Minister

Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Chathuranga Abeysinghe said that he has never promised government jobs for all graduates.

He pointed out that the government can only offer 23,000 government jobs, a figure that is not sufficient to accommodate the large number of graduates seeking employment.

Abeysinghe highlighted that, in lieu of offering more government positions, the current NPP government has allocated a substantial portion of this year’s budget to support entrepreneurship development.

He added that the focus is on creating capable individuals who can thrive in the private sector job market, thus offering graduates alternative career paths.
