The Windsurfing Nationals 2025, organized by the Bentota Windsurf Club in collaboration with the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka, is set to take place on Saturday, January 11, at the picturesque Picnic Park, Bentota Beach.

This exciting event will mark a significant move to promote the country’s coastal belt outside of Colombo. Leading windsurfers from across Sri Lanka, representing eight top clubs under the Yachting Association, will battle it out in this thrilling one-day competition. Among the participating clubs are the Royal Colombo Yacht Club (RCYC), Ceylon Motor Yacht Club (CMYC), Sri Lanka Navy Sailing Club, Bentota Windsurfing Club, Ruhunu Sailing Association, Kalpitiya Windsports Club, Future Fibres Sailing Club, and Cinec Sailing Club.

Last year, Prinatha Gunawardena from the Sri Lanka Navy Sailing Club claimed the title in the 2024 Nationals, which was held in Crow Island, Mattakkuliya, Colombo.

“Our main goal is to attract international attention and encourage foreign exchange by showcasing Sri Lanka’s stunning coastal regions,” said the Chief Operating Officer of the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka.

This event is set to bring not only top local talent but also a surge of excitement and tourism to Sri Lanka’s renowned beaches.
