There has been a drastic reduction in the number of Dansals registered for this year, said public health inspectors.

Only 2,000 registrations were done, when compared to 7,500 last year, said president of the association of PHIs Upul Rohana.

Of them, the highest number will take place within the Colombo municipality, he said.

This time, most of the Dansals registered will be offering beverages and ice-cream, he said.

Organizers are required to submit details of their Dansals to the MoH office of the area, and will be subjected to inspection by the PHIs.

Meanwhile, water and handwashing liquids have been made compulsory at the Dansals, said Dr. Mali Jayasekara of the Health Ministry.
