Former MP Duminda Silva was taken to the Colombo National Hospital this morning (11) owing to a serious illness.
That happened four hours after he was transferred from prison hospital to a general ward last night.
Earlier, certain media reported Silva was being kept at the prison hospital without any illness and that he was getting preferential treatment.
Prisons chief Gamini B. Dissanayake said the former parliamentarian was transferred to a general ward following a recommendation by a specialist doctor.
Silva has been sentenced to death over the killing of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra.
He was pardoned by Gotabaya Rajapaksa in 2021, but that was annulled by the Supreme Court later.
No pardon for him
Deputy justice minister Mahinda Jayasinghe said a few days ago that Silva won’t be pardoned despite any yarn being fabricated by the media channel owned by his family.
Speaking in parliament, Jayasinghe said the government wanted so see that the rule of law prevails.
