Economy will collapse if thieves are caught at full force – Vijitha Herath

The economy could likely collapse if the government uses its full force to catch thieves and to punish the corrupt, said minister Vijitha Herath.

Therefore, punishing wrongdoers is taking place while balancing things to ensure the economy doesn’t collapse, he told Sirasa TV’s ‘Target’ political talk show.

The government has five years to do the job, but the people gave it unprecedented mandate and expected quick results, he added.
