MPs will no longer be granted permits to import vehicles but will be provided with vehicles, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath said.

Participating in a political talk show last night (20), Minister Herath said that MPs will also be allowed to buy the vehicle at the end of 5 years at a depreciated price.

He said that two alternative methods would be introduced with regard to vehicles for MPs.

“The first was to hand over the vehicle to the government at the end of five years. The second was to assess the value of the vehicle after depreciation and pay the amount to the government and take possession of the vehicle,” he added.
