PUCSL cuts electricity tariffs by 20%

Electricity tariffs will be reduced by 20% for the first 6-months of 2025, effective from midnight today (17), the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) announced.

The reduction in electricity tariffs are as follows.

Domestic

0-30 units – 29% with monthly charge reduced to Rs.75

31-60 units – 28% with unit price reduced from Rs.6 to Rs.4

61-90 units – 19% reduction

91-180 units – 18% reduction

State institutions

  • 11% reduction

Religious places

  • 21% reduction

Industries

  • 30% reduction

Street Lighting

  • 11% reduction

Hotels

  • 31% reduction
