The Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation has filed a fundamental rights petition before the Supreme Court, alleging that his fundamental rights are being violated by obstructing him from performing his duties as an Additional Secretary.

This fundamental rights petition has been filed by W.S. Satyananda, a senior officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service.

The Secretary of the Ministry and fifteen others have been named as respondents in this petition.

Stating that he was transferred to the administrative officers’ pool after the presidential election, he has requested that this petition be taken up for consideration and an interim order be issued to prevent him from being obstructed from performing his duties in the post.

Bimal Ratnayake holds the portfolio of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation.
