The United National Party (UNP) has released an official invitation from the University of Wolverhampton, extended to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and his wife, Professor Maithree Wickramasinghe, in a bid to counter allegations surrounding a recent visit to the United Kingdom.
Former President Wickremesinghe was yesterday remanded until 26 August by Colombo Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura, after being named a suspect in the alleged misuse of public funds for a private overseas trip.
