Deputy Minister of Fisheries Rathna Gamage faced a group of protesting fishermen during his visit to the Fishery Harbour in Mirissa on Saturday (01).

Recalling a pledge made by Gamage at the same premises last year prior to the election to provide diesel and petrol at subsidized rates of Rs. 100 and Rs. 150 respectively, the fishermen demanded that he take measures to honour the commitment made to them.

However, the Deputy Minister evaded the question and failed to provide a clear response.
