Former SLAS officer appointed chairman of Lanka Mineral Sands Ltd.

Ashoka Peiris, a distinguished former officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service, has been appointed new chairman of Lanka Mineral Sands Ltd, which functions under the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development.

Peiris brings over a decade of experience in high-ranking administrative roles, including as Secretary to the Ministries of Water Supply, Indigenous Medicine, and Lands.

He previously served at Lanka Mineral Sands Ltd from 2015 to 2016 as its competent authority.

A graduate in economics from the University of Peradeniya, Peiris has also led the Sri Lanka Administrative Services Association as its president.

Upon his appointment, Peiris pledged to manage Lanka Mineral Sands Ltd. with transparency and efficiency, aiming to further develop it as a leading government enterprise.

He emphasized plans to expand mining operations to make the institute a significant contributor to Sri Lanka’s dollar earnings.
