Sri Lanka’s exports rise 7.1% in first 5 months of 2025

Sri Lanka’s export sector is showing strong momentum in 2025, with total earnings reaching US$ 6.93 billion in the first five months of the year marking a 7.14% increase compared to the same period last year.

In May alone, total export earnings from merchandise and services reached US$ 1.39 billion, reflecting a 6.35% year-on-year growth. 

Merchandise exports for the month hit US$ 1.03 billion, while the service sector brought in US$ 358.14 million, driven largely by ICT, logistics, and financial services.
