The price of a standard 450-gram loaf of bread will increase by Rs. 5 from midnight today (October 30), the All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association announced.

The Association said the prices of other bakery products would also be increased by Rs. 5.

The revised prices will come into effect from midnight on Friday (30), adding to the cost of bakery products for consumers across the country.

The latest adjustment comes amid continued pressure on household budgets from rising living costs, with food prices and higher operating expenses remaining key concerns for consumers and businesses.

Bakery products, particularly bread, are among the frequently purchased food items in Sri Lanka, making even relatively small price increases significant for households that rely on them as an affordable staple.

The Association has not provided further details on the factors behind the latest increase or specified which bakery products will be covered by the revision.
