The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will secure a victory at the upcoming local government elections by toppling the ruling National People’s Power (NPP) in the Nuwara Eliya district, said deputy leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance Palani Digambaram.

Despite receiving significant support from workers from the plantation sector at both the presidential and general elections, MP Digambaram claimed that the government has been unable to fulfil any of the promises made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the NPP, highlighting that this has led them to decide against voting for the government in the upcoming elections.

Digambaram also criticized the current administration for targeting opposition MPs and revoking their privileges when they criticize the government in parliament.

He emphasized that such actions would not lead to development, adding that the government must focus on addressing the actual needs of the people rather than punishing opposition voices.
