Sri Lanka delivered a commanding performance to overwhelm Malaysia 59-19 in the Asia Rugby Men’s Championship repechage clash at the Racecourse Grounds in Colombo yesterday, keeping their hopes of qualifying for the 2027 Rugby World Cup firmly alive.

The emphatic victory secures Sri Lanka the final berth in the Asia Rugby Championship 2025, where they will join regional powerhouses Hong Kong, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates in a highly anticipated four-nation tournament.

With both sides vying to stay on the World Cup qualification path, the match held immense stakes.

The winner of the 2025 Championship will earn direct entry into the 2027 Rugby World Cup, while the runner-up will face the second-placed team from the African Championship in a repechage playoff.
