17,000 children at risk despite Govt claims of protection

Around 17,000 children in Sri Lanka have been identified as being in a highly vulnerable state, Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala revealed yesterday (26).

Speaking at a programme in the North Western Province, Minister Wijepala said that all children, including this at-risk group, are being closely monitored.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the social security of every child, stressing that no one will be left behind.
