Muslim extremist group operating in Eastern Province

Cabinet spokesman and Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said today that information has been received about a Muslim extremist group active in the Eastern Province.

Speaking to the media, he stated that police intelligence and security forces are actively working to gather more information about the group.

Minister Jayatissa said that the President had also shared some details about the matter in Parliament.

Security forces are staying on high alert in response to the activities of this extremist group, he added.
