The Container Transport Vehicle Owners’ Association says that the clearance of imported containers at the Colombo Port is continuing to be delayed.

The association’s chairman, Sanath Manjula, said that there are already over 3,000 containers that have not been cleared at the port premises.

He said that this is due to the fact that container clearance activities have not been carried out as expected.

Sanath Manjula, chairman of the Container Transport Vehicle Owners Association, further stated that the customs officers who worked at the Colombo Port in the past were more efficient in clearing containers, and if the customs officers working at present also follow the same methods, the current congestion can be reduced.
