Minister succumbs to union pressure, agrees to give Port workers major benefits

Port trade unions have reached an agreement with the subject Minister regarding several concessions, including a Rs 100,000 increase in the annual bonus for port workers.

This agreement is scheduled to be presented at the Board of Directors meeting on the 26th for approval.

According to the agreement reached during discussions with the Minister, the annual bonus for port workers will be increased by Rs 100,000, with 60 percent paid this year and 40 percent in 2026.

In addition, agreements have been made on several other concessions, including an 80 percent increase in salary increments for port workers starting in August, an increase in the Rs 3,500 incentive given at the beginning of the year, and other benefits.
