The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has criticised the recent Cabinet reshuffle, stating that without concrete measures to stabilise the economy, such changes are unlikely to yield meaningful results.

SJB MP S.M. Marikkar discussed these concerns while speaking at a media briefing held yesterday (13).

“Regardless of the nature of the Cabinet change that the Government resorts to, the same group (of politicians) gets appointed again,” he said, raising concerns about the measures necessary to address government inefficiency and debts.

Marikkar further claimed that some ministries had underspent massive amounts of funds allocated to them for this year as those ministries had not performed as expected.

He added that changing the ministerial portfolio of an inefficient minister is hence insufficient.
