The price of wheat flour has been increased by Rs. 13 per kilogram with immediate effect, according to company sources, raising the cost of a key household staple in Sri Lanka.

The price revision is expected to place additional pressure on household budgets, particularly among low- and middle-income families that rely on wheat flour for daily consumption.

The increase could also affect bakeries and other food businesses that use wheat flour as a primary ingredient, potentially adding to production costs and putting further pressure on prices of flour-based products.

The impact of the increase on bakery products and other flour-based food items remains to be seen.
