10,000 cops, hundreds of escort vehicles gave protection to president in Kandy, claims Patali

State expenses under incumbent president Anura Kumara Dissanayake is Rs. 10,00,000 million more than his predecessors Ranil Wickremesinghe and Mahinda Rajapaksa, charged ex-MP Patali Champika Ranawaka.

Addressing a public rally to campaign for the local government polls, Ranawaka said the maintenance of the so-called modest politicians who promised not to have escort vehicles and refused meals at the parliament canteen is proving to be costlier today.

According to him, the media showed just one escort vehicle when the president visited the Dalada Maligawa in Kandy recently, more than 10,000 policemen and hundreds of escort vehicles were deployed in all access roads for his protection.
