More allegations of bribery against former ministers

Two foreign envoys have informed foreign minister Vijitha Herath regarding instances where ministers in the previous administration had demanded bribes from South Korean and Australian investors.

South Korean ambassador Miyon Lee and Australian high commissioner Paul Stephens had apprised minister Herath regarding these incidents recently.

It is reported that the demands have led the investors to abandon their potential investments in Sri Lanka and seek other opportunities in India and Vietnam.

Despite a South Korean investor securing an open tender for transporting fuel from Muthurajawela to Katunayake Airport through a pipeline, ambassador Miyon Lee had noted that permission had not been granted to implement the project for some unknown reasons.
