The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) said on Tuesday it will take strict disciplinary action against party members who supported the National People’s Power (NPP) during recent budget votes in local government bodies.

Party sources said the SLFP has already moved to temporarily suspend the membership of individuals who voted in favour of NPP-backed budgets at local councils.

The SLFP has also sought written explanations from those who broke ranks, warning that further disciplinary measures will follow.
