Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation, K.D. Lal Kantha, said that the National People’s Power (NPP) continues to expand its political alliance and remains open to welcoming representatives from other parties, including Members of Parliament and local government councillors.

Speaking to the media, Lal Kantha asserted that they will move forward in line with the NPP’s inclusive political strategy.

“If there are MPs or local government members willing to leave their respective parties, even while retaining their official positions, we are ready to welcome them. Our doors are open,” he said.

Noting the understanding between the NPP and the Ceylon Workers’ Congress led by opposition MP Jeevan Thondaman, he said that the NPP is actively forming strategic alliances across the country, adding that independent local councillors from any district are also welcome to support them.
