Representatives of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), Sarvajana Balaya, and a group of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MPs who support former President Ranil Wickremesinghe have begun preparations to contest the upcoming local government elections under an alliance.

Representatives of these parties met at the SLFP headquarters in Colombo on Monday (27) for discussions.

The SLFP was represented by former Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Mahinda Amaraweera, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, and Duminda Dissanayake, while a group including former State Minister Premitha Bandara Tennakoon represented the SLPP faction. Professor Channa Jayasumana attended the discussion representing Dilith Jayaweera’s Sarvajana Balaya.

It is reported that various topics, including local government elections and the current political climate, were discussed during the meeting.
