Milinda Moragoda, founder of the Pathfinder Foundation, has called on India to take a leading role in Sri Lanka’s post-disaster reconstruction, proposing Japan act as a strategic partner, during the 4th India–Japan Forum in New Delhi.

Invited by India’s Ministry of External Affairs and the Ananta Centre, Moragoda presented his proposal at the forum, which brought together senior policymakers, diplomats, and experts from both countries to discuss bilateral and strategic cooperation.

He had earlier expressed similar views in an op-ed published in the Hindustan Times.

The forum addressed a wide range of topics, including economic security, semiconductor development, trade, nuclear energy, digitalization, strategic minerals, and investment, highlighting the broad agenda of India–Japan cooperation.

During his visit, Moragoda also met with top Indian officials, including External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and other senior policy makers to discuss strategies for regional collaboration.

The India–Japan Forum, convened by India’s Ministry of External Affairs and the Ananta Centre, aims to provide a platform for shaping the future of bilateral and strategic partnerships through dialogue and joint deliberation.
