Opposition to file criminal case against Govt – SJB

The opposition plans to file a criminal case against the government over its handling of the recent disaster, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP S.M. Marikkar said.

Speaking to reporters yesterday (01), he asserted that the criminal case would be filed against the government for its failure to take adequate preparatory measures despite receiving prior warnings about the impending disaster.

“Similar to the criminal case filed against the Rajapaksas for bankrupting the nation, we will file a case against the current government, as they are responsible for every citizen that died in the disaster,” Marikkar said.

He also described the current disaster situation as being as grave as the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
