Govt. debt increases by Rs. 869 billion in 2025 first half

The total outstanding government debt as of the end of June 2025 stood at Rs. 29,634.78, according to data released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

That is a Rs. 896.08 billion increase from Rs. 28,738.70 billion at the end of 2024.

This figure encompasses both domestic debt and the rupee value of foreign debt.
