A new finance minister?

The government is likely to appoint a new finance minister towards the end of April, claimed former JVP provincial councillor Waruna Rajapaksha.

Now an electoral organizer of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, Rajapaksha said in a video posted on his social media channel that a national list MP of the ruling National People’s Power government would resign and pave the way for that would-be finance minister to enter parliament.

He said that as per information he has received, that person is a leading businessman, who had previously been offered the finance secretary position.
