India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, held a meeting with former President Ranil Wickremesinghe in Colombo on Saturday (13).

The meeting, held at Wickremesinghe’s private residence in Colombo, was arranged at the request of the Indian High Commission. Discussions centred on Sri Lanka’s political and economic outlook, as well as broader regional and international developments.

Diplomatic sources say the former President also offered his views on the current political unrest in Nepal, a topic that has drawn increasing concern from regional powers.

High Commissioner Jha is expected to brief New Delhi on the outcome of the meeting.

A day earlier, on Friday (12), Mr Wickremesinghe met with China’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Qi Zhenhong, at his political office on Flower Road.
