Parliamentarian Dr. Kaushalya Ariyarathne representing the National People’s Power (NPP) has filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) about false information spreading on social media.

In her complaint, Ariyarathne said the fake news included personal attacks and false claims aimed at damaging her reputation.

She has asked authorities to investigate and take action against those behind the news.

The NPP MP also called these attacks an attempt to discourage women from getting involved in politics.

“If anyone thinks these cheap tricks will stop women from joining politics, they are wrong. These tactics won’t harm the government—try harder!” she said.
