Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) National Organizer MP Tissa Attanayake has dismissed speculation regarding the possible appointment of MP Dayasiri Jayasekara as a Deputy Leader of the party, stating that no such move is under consideration.

Speaking to reporters in Kandy on Sunday, Attanayake clarified that neither Jayasekara nor his representatives had made any formal request, and the party had held no internal discussions on the matter.

“Dayasiri contested under the SJB banner at the last General Election, but he has yet to obtain official membership of the party. Without that, there can be no question of leadership appointments,” he said.

Attanayake also pushed back against recent rumours of a leadership shake-up within the SJB.

“Leadership is not something you demand—it requires political maturity and earned trust. Our current priority is policy reform and organisational restructuring, not a reshuffle of personalities,” he said.
