The United National Party (UNP) has decided to appoint a three-member committee to initiate discussions with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).

The committee comprises UNP Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene, General Secretary and senior attorney-at-law Thalatha Atukorale, and President’s Counsel Ronald Perera.

The UNp said the move is aimed at reinforcing the UNP’s longstanding commitment to uniting all democratic political forces on a common platform, with the objective of safeguarding Sri Lanka’s multi-party democratic system.
