The US ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung, visited Sirikotha, the headquarters of the United National Party (UNP), on Thursday (27).

UNP Chairman Wajira Abeywardena and general secretary Thalatha Athukorale attended the talks that focused on the party’s political programme and the political situation that prevails in the country.

The meeting lasted nearly an hour, during which UNP leader and former president Ranil Wickremesinghe too, briefly joined in via telephone.

Following the discussions, Chung made an observation tour of the UNP headquarters.
