Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnetti says that President Donald Trump’s new tax policy could have severe repercussions for the United States.

Handunnetti emphasized that the new policy could lead to significant challenges for American citizens, warning that the economic strain could disproportionately affect the country’s working-class population.

Minister also pointed out that the United States might not face the same political backlash as Sri Lanka, as there is no progressive left-wing movement in the US to mobilize against such policies.

“If the US had a leftist movement like Sri Lanka, Trump would be gone,” Handunnetti said, adding that the absence of such a movement has prevented a potential political transformation in the US.
