SJB hints at unified front with UNP

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa has taken responsibility for exploring a potential alliance between his party and the United National Party (UNP), SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said on Sunday (23).

Speaking to reporters in Colombo after a meeting of SJB leaders convened to finalize nominations for party organiser posts and discuss future strategies, Madduma Bandara confirmed that talks between the SJB and UNP on a possible unification are ongoing.

He added that Premadasa personally assured party members he would oversee any potential tie-up and noted that members and supporters were keen on forming a united front with the UNP.
