Air Force personnel attached to Presidential security arrested with explosives

Vellawali Police arrested two individuals, including an Air Force personnel, in an Air Force Jeep assigned to the Presidential Secretariat, carrying a stock of explosive materials.

The suspects were arrested on Monday, the police said.

The Air Force personnel, 34, is attached to the Presidential Security Unit, and the other suspect is a 60-year-old man from Kelaniya.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the stock of explosive materials was brought with the intention of using it to explode a rock in search of treasure, the police said.

The suspects would be presented before the Kaluwanchikudy Magistrate’s Court, the police added.
