The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has appointed several of its MPs to lead political activities in seven districts.

Accordingly, these new appointments have been made for the districts of Galle, Kurunegala, Matale, Kalutara, Puttalam, Gampaha, and Anuradhapura.

The letters of appointment were handed over to MPs Rohini Kaviratne from Matale, Hector Appuhamy from Puttalam, Rohana Bandara from Anuradhapura, Gayantha Karunathilaka from Galle, Harshana Rajakaruna from Gampaha, Naleen Bandara from Kurunegala, and Ajith P. Perera from Kalutara by SJB leader Sajith Premadasa.

However, senior MP Dr. Harsha de Silva was ignored for the Colombo district leadership, which has fueled speculations of a widening rift between him and the party.

It is learnt that Sajith Premadasa will lead the Colombo district.
