Deputy Minister Nalin Hewage states that the ruling National People’s Power (NPP) government has accomplished a tremendous amount of work in a short period  of time.

Noting that their biggest accomplishment is stopping the country from collapsing, he says that the rupee has been strengthened against the dollar and foreign reserves have increased to seven billion dollars.

He further said that the highest number of tourists in the past five years came last year under the NPP government.

He expressed these views while addressing a NPP meeting recently.

CBSL data showed that by the end of September, 2024, total arrivals reached 1,484,808 while Sri Lanka hit its target of 2 million tourists set by the Ranil Wickremesinghe-led administration in the last week of 2024.

The Sri Lankan presidential election was held on September 21.
